Border Guard Consultant / Expert, Senior
Key Role :
Provide professional leadership and border guard subject matter expertise, including port and border security and control, maritime safety and security, search and rescue operations, assistance to mariners, counter-
smuggling operations, early warning and monitoring systems, public assistance and compliance, and sectors and ministries cross-
organizational coordination and collaboration. Support senior client meetings and provide input on relevant matters to enable the sectors’ overall transformation.
Demonstrate expertise in excellent client delivery by diplomatically coordinating and providing support to the client and various organizations which contribute to accomplishing the border guard mission.
Provide technical writing, guidance, advice, and training. Demonstrate expertise in teamwork by collaborating with onsite assigned personnel.
This position is located in the MENA region with limited visits back to the US.
Basic Qualifications :
18+ years of experience as a US military officer at the O4-O6 level, E9 level, or US Coast Guard with interagency, national, or international border guard agencies and programs with no more than 2 years out of the corresponding agency and willing to live in the MENA region for at least 1 year
5+ years of experience as a civilian with federal law enforcement agencies in border control and security, customs and immigration, maritime safety and security, or critical infrastructure protection services with no more than 2 years out of the corresponding agency and willing to live in the MENA region for at least 1 year
Experience with providing federal civilian agency or military expertise in one or more of the following areas : land and maritime customs and border enforcement regulatory policies and procedures, planning and directing patrolling of international land borders and coastal waters in the US, customs and immigration enforcement or border control for either coastal waters or international land borders in the US, border security operations advising, mentoring, and training with foreign nations, Security Assistance and Cooperation in Foreign Military Sales and International Military Education and Training to improve security forces capabilities
Experience in foreign nation training and advising for detecting and preventing the illegal entry, smuggling, and trafficking of people or narcotics and contraband, marine interdiction, vessel boarding, and search and rescue operations, or with the Joint Task Force in coordinating local, regional, and national level efforts in support of counterterrorism
Experience with public affairs or strategic communications in a coalition nation environment to support public assistance
Experience with civil support to authorities in securing maritime strategic resources and critical infrastructure
Experience with developing high-quality deliverables using various tools, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Additional Qualifications :
Experience with deployments and working overseas
Experience with foreign military personnel related to security assistance and cooperative programs
Experience with the Arabic language a plus
Experience with working in the Middle East a plus
MA or MS degree preferred
