Automatic Fare Collection AFC ManagerThe Automatic Fare Collection AFC Manager will be responsible for providing design review and assistance to design oversight of the AFC systems during the construction phase of a major rail project.
The project team is seeking a senior level experienced AFC Engineer to review and provide support on design issues as well as coordinating their various design elements.
The AFC Manager will be experienced with AFC systems and will have indepth knowledge of the elements to be included in their design and ideally their integration with a public transportation system.
The chosen applicant will be from an electrical engineering background with experience of the design of fare collection or other revenue systems such Euro Card Master Card Visa Card and Electronic Fund Transfer.
Responsibilities includeLeading the AFC team electrical engineers and inspectors in the development of AFC systems in relation to system enhancements revenue operations advancement and integration into the overall rail transport systemLeading the development and review of detailed AFC system design documents technical specifications drawings test procedures and maintenance programsActing in an final acceptance capacity on all technical matters related to the design of the AFC system to ensure contractual and maintenance compliance requirementsManaging and monitoring contractors in establishing AFC system as per contractual agreementCoordinating with AFC contractors on all operational matters regarding the integration of systems such as the existing bus network and the linking of the car park fare systemMonitoring the performance of contractors in compliance with safety and security requirementsParticipating in design review meetings with the contractors and the client and ensuring all system specification measures are accomplishedLeading regular reviews with the Design Team on the progress of the design and any engineering changes within the scope of the contractReviewing and evaluating existing Key Performance Indicators for AFC operationsProposing standards of measurements for assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of AFC system operationsMaintaining records of overruns in the design review process and the cause of each delayManaging and ensuring the implementation of the preventive and corrective maintenance of the AFC system and related featuresValidating the whole of life maintenance schedule and evaluating the impact of design changes on maintenance activities scheduleConducting assessments of AFC system performance in revenue protection data accuracy and equipment operationsMonitoring all system integration tests operational readiness and implementation of new fare systemRequirementsA bachelors degree in electrical engineeringOver 15 years experience work experience on the design and construction phases of heavy civil projectsExperience in the design of fare collection including smart card contactless and magnetic media or other revenue systems such Euro Card Master Card Visa Card and Electronic Fund TransferAbility to successfully lead develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team of engineersStrong change management skills and the ability to successfully resolve issues despite obstacles and resistance DesirableStrong track record in transportation system projects such as bus rail or metro
